The role involves leading a team of Flight Operations Engineers and Flight Technical Support Executives, ensuring accuracy and content of BA Operations Manual elements, maintaining safety‑critical data for key operational systems, setting standards for navigation, aerodrome and aircraft performance, and managing safety, risk and change performance within flight operations engineering. The role also requires maintaining regulatory compliance, defining operational strategy, representing BA at industry bodies, supporting operational areas, providing 24/7 technical support, and driving high‑performing teams towards continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
- Lead a team of Flight Operations Engineers and Flight Technical Support Executives
- Ensure accuracy of the BA Operations Manual, including Load and Balance Manuals and Performance Manuals
- Ensure accuracy of safety‑critical data for key operational systems such as FM, LIDO/Flight, and FMS Databases
- Set company standards and recommend policies for navigation data, aerodromes, aircraft performance, flight test and weight and balance issues
- Manage safety, risk and management of change performance across flight operations engineering and flight technical support teams
- Maintain compliance with UK and EASA operational regulations
- Define strategy for all aspects of operations engineering
- Represent BA at key industry and regulatory bodies (e.g., CAA, IATA, A4E)
- Serve as subject‑matter expert and support other operational areas such as CLC, global ops flight dispatch, engineering, fleet and network planning
- Provide 24/7 ad hoc operational technical support within the operations engineering team
- Participate in projects on behalf of the Head of Flight Technical
- Develop a high‑performing team that drives innovation, productivity, excellence and continuous improvement

- Minimum 5 years in the aviation industry – Desirable
- People management experience – Desirable
