Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly capable and commercially minded Tax Manager to join a FTSE 250 Tax Group, reporting to the Group Head of Tax. This role will take ownership of UK corporate tax compliance, review VAT returns, and manage group tax reporting, while supporting the wider tax strategy and partnering with finance and operational teams. The role will also assist with the implementation of country‑by‑country, transfer pricing documentation, and Pillar 2 returns.

What will you be doing day‑to‑day?

  • Own UK corporate tax compliance, ensuring accurate and timely filings with advisor oversight.
  • Manage quarterly tax payments and support forecasting for budgeting cycles.
  • Support tax reporting (half-year and year-end) under IFRS, maintaining robust controls and documentation.
  • Review VAT returns and provide clear guidance to the business.
  • Advise stakeholders on a broad range of UK tax matters, including projects and restructures.
  • Lead the R&D tax credit process, partnering with advisors and internal teams.
  • Manage and optimise the Group’s Patent Box position.
  • Support tax governance in line with SAO and CCO requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks across the UK business.
  • Build strong HMRC relationships and support a low-risk rating outcome.
  • Drive continuous improvement in tax processes and controls.
  • Support implementation of Country‑by‑Country Reporting and Pillar 2.

What You’ll Need

  • CTA/ATT/ACCA/ACA qualification.
  • Strong UK corporate tax compliance and reporting experience.
  • Experience with R&D Tax Credits and Patent Box preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of UK VAT preferred.
  • Experience managing external advisors and working in a large or complex organisation.
  • Previous experience as a Tax Accountant in a UK business with an international presence.
  • Experience with D365 or OneStream preferred.
