Join us at Barclays as a Product Owner Network Core, where you will lead the vision, strategy, and delivery of core network services that underpin the bank’s global infrastructure. The role requires deep product ownership experience combined with strong understanding of core network technologies and services (e.g. routing, switching, network resilience, traffic engineering), enabling effective ownership of product scope, roadmap and prioritisation across critical infrastructure platforms. Candidates are not required to be engineers but must demonstrate sufficient technical credibility to lead discussions, define priorities and make informed trade‑offs.

Responsibilities

  • Own a product end‑to‑end, define and articulate product vision and roadmap, and prioritise delivery to maximise business value while balancing desirability, viability and feasibility.
  • Stakeholder Leadership & Influence: Engage, influence and align senior stakeholders, delivery teams and control functions, acting as a trusted point of accountability between business, technology and risk.
  • Agile Delivery & Backlog Management: Manage and prioritise complex product backlogs in Agile environments, translate business outcomes into clear user stories with robust acceptance criteria and drive value delivery.
  • Risk, Control & Governance Awareness: Operate within regulated environments with an understanding of risk identification, controls, governance and escalation mechanisms within product delivery.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making: Use KPIs, customer insight and performance data to assess outcomes, inform prioritisation decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • People Leadership or Senior SME Capability: Lead and develop teams at VP level, or act as a senior subject matter expert guiding complex cross‑functional initiatives with strategic impact.
  • Monitor product performance and iterate: Assess product performance using KPIs and customer feedback, adjust the product backlog and roadmap, and manage readiness and run activities of live products including monitoring, governance and approvals.
  • Acceptance Criteria Definition & Management: Define and manage acceptance criteria; review and accept or reject work during sprints to ensure delivered features meet agreed criteria and deliver business value.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Gather requirements, define product goals, and ensure the product vision aligns with business objectives.
  • Voice of the Customer: Gather feedback from customers and end-users to understand pain points and ensure the product meets their needs.
  • VP Expectations: Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, manage resources and budgets, and ensure alignment with policies and procedures.

Purpose

The purpose of a Product Owner is to maximize the value of the product by defining a clear product vision, managing, refining and prioritizing the Product Backlog, and ensuring the right things are built. They act as the primary liaison between stakeholders and delivery teams, ensuring the product meets user/customer needs and delivers optimal value. Product Owners are responsible for developing a roadmap and driving execution of their product area, applying continuous improvement principles.
