The Opportunity

QBE is hiring an Underwriter to join a well-established Property and Package team based in Manchester. We are looking for Property (or Property & Casualty) professionals seeking their next role. In this role you will assess risks, evaluate insurance applications, and determine coverage options. You will work closely with brokers and clients to understand their needs and tailor insurance solutions.

Your New Role

  • Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the Business Plan and personal authority to meet business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues.
  • Participate fully and use your expertise to shape and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice.
  • Promote the department, division and company to maximise brand leverage.
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency.
  • Keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness.

Right to work in the UK is a requirement; sponsorship may be considered.

About You

  • Experience in Property, P&P or P&C underwriting.
  • Commercial understanding of key profit drivers to maximise long‑term wealth for shareholders.
  • Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel.
  • Good knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills, innovative in underwriting approach and programme design.
