  • Specialist Sales Consultant – Barclaycard Payments (12‑month secondment/FTC)
  • Location & Duration

Based in Northampton, London, Birmingham or Glasgow. 12‑month secondment/FTC.

Purpose of the Role

Generate revenue and promote Barclaycard Payments’ acceptance solutions (Gateway, Acquiring, Fraud) to clients with a business turnover exceeding £6.5M per annum, using a deep consultancy approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and manage a pipeline of opportunities with targets over £6.5M turnover.
  • Consult and sell Acceptance solutions to prospective and existing Barclays customers.
  • Provide client feedback to product owners and suggest product enhancements.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional activities across Sales, Professional Services, Product and Marketing to support the Acceptance strategy.
  • Analyse customer needs, market trends and competitor strategies to tailor sales approaches.
  • Build detailed profiles for target customer segments and develop compelling sales pitches and proposals.
  • Negotiate terms and close deals that deliver maximum business value.
  • Track lead conversion rates, customer acquisition costs and other sales metrics to assess performance.
  • Collect and analyse customer feedback to support product development and sales strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in sales, sales consulting, pre‑sales or an analytical role.
  • Experience with payment gateways and/or fraud solutions.
  • Working knowledge of global payment schemes, industry dynamics, interchange drivers and competitor solutions.
  • Analytical mindset, comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Ability to synthesize multiple data sources into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Proven ability to identify and progress commercial opportunities through client and stakeholder engagement.
  • Successful track record of increasing business performance and negotiating at a strategic level.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate new capabilities to internal stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Barclays product solutions.
  • Experience in the Business‑to‑Business Financial Services sector.
  • Previous experience in a data analytics or data consultancy role.
  • Understanding of consumer spending behaviours that support client growth strategy.
  • Awareness of how consumer spend is changing in the current economic landscape.
