The Business Accounting Integrations and Reporting team is on a mission to simplify financial management for Wise’s business customers. As a Backend Engineer, you will build products that directly impact all business customers, tackling challenges from improving existing integrations to building new features from scratch.
What you will do:
- Enhance our Accounting Integrations: increase coverage, reliability, and reporting capabilities.
- Improve Workflow & Reporting: introduce new accounting workflows and customizable reporting features to reduce manual work.
- Expand Our Global Footprint: localise offerings to meet regional demands and integrate with regional accounting tools.
- Build an Extensible Platform: develop a scalable and reliable platform architecture that enables quick and efficient integration for internal and external teams.
Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in backend programming languages like Java, Python, or Go.
- Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
- In-depth knowledge of distributed systems principles; experience in designing and optimizing distributed architectures is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience working in product‑led companies, with a strong product mindset that prioritises user needs and business goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to break down complex problems into shippable milestones that deliver value fast.
- Proven experience managing relationships with various stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding of project goals and requirements; skilled in balancing stakeholder needs with technical feasibility.

- Solid understanding of database fundamentals.
