Help shape the future of military capability. As a Senior Supportability Engineer at Leonardo, you’ll contribute to the integration of Supportability across complex systems – to join an expanding Supportability function within the Integrated Sensors & Protection (ISP) team. As a Senior Supportability Engineer, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of products or systems by ensuring they are supportable throughout their entire lifecycle, from concept, through design and development, to disposal. Influencing the design ensures our operators can perform at their best when it matters most. To complement an already dynamic team, we actively encourage engineers from many different disciplines and backgrounds such as Electronics, Mechanical and Systems Engineering to apply. What You Will Do

  • You will be actively involved in analysing, assessing and influencing the design for the next generation of Leonardo products, to ensure that they are reliable, easy to maintain and meet the customer requirements.
  • You will be responsible for:
    • Owning and contributing to a variety of Supportability analysis tasks.
    • Developing an understanding of, and applying, through-life costing principles.
    • Tailoring the appropriate programmes of work to applicable standards and guidance.
    • Applying Supportability tools effectively.
    • Contributing confidently to team tasks and outputs.
    • Working closely with other disciplines as part of daily business.
    • Producing work independently, exercising sound judgement.
    • Supporting and developing other team members.
    • Independently identifying problems and proposing solutions.
    • Peer-reviewing colleagues' work.
    • Identifying opportunities for, and participating in, continuous improvement activities.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience of Support design reviews and customer meetings; presenting ILS evidence and guidance, ensuring that AR&M and supportability aspects are effectively communicated and addressed.
  • Experience in ILS on mission-critical programmes, awareness of the Defence Logistics Framework and Def Stan 00-600.
  • Understanding across ILS methods: supportability analysis, software support, safety, supply support, maintenance and progressive assurance.
  • Experience in applying AR&M methodologies within engineering projects.
  • Strong stakeholder skills, able to influence and build trust.

Helpful Tooling (Nice To Have)

Ideally, you will have a Higher National Certificate, or above, in a relevant engineering or science discipline, or hold relevant experience from industry or defence. Our team use PTC Windchill Risk and Reliability; Reliasoft; OPUS; Simlox; Matlab / Simulink; Raytheon EAGLE suite; Jira and Python and although expertise is not essential, familiarity with some would be beneficial.

We have an opportunity to tailor the responsibilities of the role to the experience of the candidate, so we are open to candidates with all levels of supportability experience and knowledge with aspirations to develop. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
