The Opportunity

QBE International are excited to announce that we are recruiting a Paralegal to join our growing Legal team in Leeds. This opportunity would suit someone who is keen to develop their legal career within the insurance industry and gain exposure to a wide range of legal areas. You will provide additional in-house capability, comprising legal and administrative support to the QBE International Legal team. This vital role involves performing tasks that do not necessarily require the expertise of a qualified solicitor, helping to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the broader legal team. Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role. QBE may consider supporting professional qualifications at its discretion.

Your new role

  • Reviewing a range of basic commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements, supplier terms and conditions, engagement letters, and IT and supplier contracts
  • Working with lawyers on a diverse range of legal areas such as corporate, commercial, insurance, finance/treasury, people, marketing, and IT
  • Assisting with major legal projects and coordinating actions, including supporting the Claims team with CCJs
  • Handling general legal and non-legal queries (e.g. correct legal entity, signing of documents)
  • Undertaking legal research and document preparation
  • Working with the Legal Operations team, including updating intranet and online filing systems and supporting reporting requirements
  • Utilising legal software and technology
  • Supporting professional development by staying updated with changes in laws and regulations and participating in relevant activities
  • Playing an active role in the development of procedures within the International Legal Team and keeping them up to date
  • Managing internal and external stakeholder relationships

About You

  • Experience supporting legal, commercial, or operational activities within a legal or professional services environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • A practical approach to work and problem-solving
  • Confidence to act independently and make decisions within your level of competence, with the ability to recognise when to seek guidance
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Copilot
  • Strong IT skills and an interest in legal technology
  • A team player with a proactive and collaborative mindset
