Join Barclays as a Cyber Security Standards & Oversight Manager, leading delivery of High Risk Assets, governance across cyber standards, and M&A integration. The role ensures compliance with Barclays standards and controls, manages issues, provides insights to senior forums, and oversees both standard and non-standard environments. Additional responsibilities include bi‑annual identification of critical assets, aligning acquired businesses to Barclays’ frameworks, and delivering board‑level reporting in a highly regulated environment.
Purpose of the role To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the bank’s internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the bank’s operational, financial, and reputational risk.
Key Qualifications
- A deep understanding of external cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and MITRE, with the ability to demonstrate how these frameworks support measurement and maturity of our cybersecurity controls and overall security posture.
- Proven line management and collaborative leadership experience, with a strong track record of leading and developing high‑performing teams.
- You will excel in stakeholder engagement, building trusted relationships across internal teams, audit functions, and regulators to drive the adoption of security standards, governance, and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong communication and reporting capabilities, including proven experience in translating complex framework and control performance into clear, actionable insights for senior management, the board, regulators, and risk and audit functions, enabling informed decision‑making and driving the effective adoption of controls.

Accountabilities

- Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
- Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by severity to disrupt bank operations.
- Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment, including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
- Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank’s internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.
- Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and setting appropriate methodology for assessing controls against the Controls Framework.
