We’re on the lookout for an IT Systems Engineer with a specialisation in Linux to join our small, friendly, and hands‑on team. You’ll be the first point of call for technical queries, helping us maintain high standards while improving how we support the wider business.
We’re a small IT‑focused team that wears many hats, so while we all have our defined roles, there can be the need to get involved with other actions on a day‑to‑day basis. You will need to be adaptable and organised as priorities change. This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with a highly technical company and grow your career into an Infrastructure Engineer, with the opportunity to get involved in long‑term projects.
What You'll Do
- Provide first and second level technical support on incidents and problems.
- Create, maintain and utilise technical documentation.
- Initial point of contact and triage for incidents and problems.
- Keep up with daily checks on critical systems such as backups, update services and alerts.
- Handle all new device builds such as laptops, desktops, and mobile devices.
- Get hands‑on with builds of infrastructure with team members.
- Involvement with documentation and procedures for IT certification, such as ISO27001 & Cyber Essentials.
You'll Have a Mix Of The Following Skills
- Experience working on Linux platforms within a commercial environment; most machines run on Ubuntu or RedHat.
- Fundamental knowledge of networking.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- End user device troubleshooting skills.
- Administration of AWS/Azure platforms.
- Experience of Windows products such as Windows 11, Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP would be beneficial.
- Must be eligible and willing to undergo SC clearance.
