We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work‑life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. We’re one of the biggest supermarkets in the UK, with one of the largest retail websites. Marketing here happens at scale across Brand Planning, Brand Communications and Creative, Digital Marketing, CRM and Loyalty, Nectar 360 and Insights. With more people shopping with us every week, there are more interactions, more moments to connect. And thanks to data and insight, we understand our customers in a way few others can. We work alongside incredible brand partners and some of the best agencies in the industry.
Join the Customer Insight team – a collaborative, forward‑thinking and highly engaged team that partners closely with commercial, marketing, digital and retail colleagues. Together, we tell compelling stories through data and research, influencing decisions that improve customer experiences and deliver meaningful business outcomes.
As an Insight Executive, you will support Insight Business Partners/Managers to deliver high‑quality, actionable insight across Commercial. You’ll turn varied data sources – customer feedback, primary research, financial and market data – into clear and commercially relevant narratives that help the business drive decisions.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll build strong relationships with your stakeholder group, working collaboratively to understand priorities and shape the research and insight needed. You’ll support end‑to‑end projects, from briefing and managing agency partners to analysing results and presenting insights back to the business. This role is hands‑on, diverse and highly visible. You’ll act as a customer champion – always looking for ways to elevate customer understanding and proactively identify opportunities that support growth, improve experience and strengthen brand performance.
Curious, proactive and show a strong passion for customers – bringing a deep understanding of their emotional needs, behaviours and motivations. Ability to spot knowledge gaps & highlight opportunities – you have a naturally analytical mindset, with the ability to handle large datasets, spot patterns and synthesise information from multiple sources. You’re commercially aware and comfortable challenging assumptions to bring clarity and focus to complex problems. You understand research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative) and are confident working with agencies to deliver robust and impactful insight.
Strong communication – you take data and turn it into stories that resonate, influence and inspire. You’ll also be highly organised, able to prioritise ruthlessly in a busy environment and work to tight deadlines without compromising quality. Relationship‑building will come naturally, and you’ll be confident working with stakeholders at different levels, using insight to shape thinking and support better outcomes.
We don’t require any specific qualifications, but you’ll have relevant, demonstrable experience in roles involving data, research or insight. Experience with customer data sources (such as Nectar or similar), or market data (Nielsen or Kantar), would be beneficial, but is not essential.
Essential Criteria:
- Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders & confident to influence broadly across the business
- Think proactively and work in a hypothesis‑led way to break down complex problems and land action‑focussed answers
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work to meet tight deadlines across multiple concurrent asks
- Ability to analyse large and complex datasets and translate findings into clear, actionable insights
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint to present insights clearly
