Role Overview
You’ll play a key part in leading our Prime Synthetics Technology programme. The role reports directly to the head of Cross Asset Technology and will be responsible for the ongoing development of the technology stack that underpins the Prime Synthetic offering by HSBC.
In This Role You’ll:
- Own the global Synthetics/Prime platform, including architecture, scalability, resilience, and performance.
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap, aligning business growth, regulatory requirements, and technology modernization.
- Lead new initiatives across product expansion (e.g., equity swaps, TRS, structured products) and platform capabilities.
- Provide deep expertise in synthetics and swaps, including Total Return Swaps (TRS), CFDs, and financing structures.
- Lead and scale a distributed global team (~30 FTEs) across engineering, TPM, and product functions.
- Act as the primary interface for global stakeholders across Trading, Risk, Operations, Compliance, and Technology.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in financial services, with strong exposure to synthetics, swaps, and prime services with appropriate oversight of high‑volume swap calculation engines.
- Proven track record of leading large‑scale global platforms and delivering complex transformation programmes.
- Deep understanding of equities market structure, derivatives lifecycle, and risk management.
- Extensive knowledge of synthetics products and swaps (TRS, equity derivatives).
- Strong understanding of electronic trading platforms and low‑latency systems (ideally SwapOne).
- Experience with DevOps practices, cloud platforms, and modern engineering tooling.
