About the Business Analysis & Customer Experience Team

The Business Analysis and Customer Experience team is a key part of Digital Application Services, shaping and delivering technology‑enabled change across applications, platforms and digital services. It works closely with product, engineering, architecture, service and operational teams to define requirements, analyse system impacts, improve end‑to‑end services and support the delivery of robust, scalable, user‑centred solutions.

Position Overview

We are looking for a strong Technical Business Analyst to work on complex digital and technology change. The role suits an experienced analyst who is comfortable with both business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, translating business needs into clear, structured, actionable requirements for design, build, test and implementation.

As a Technical Business Analyst You Will

  • Lead analysis activities across discovery, design and delivery, bringing structure and clarity to complex business and technology change.
  • Elicit, analyse and document business, functional and non‑functional requirements using workshops, interviews, observation, document analysis and data investigation.
  • Translate business needs into clear user stories, epics, acceptance criteria, business rules and supporting artefacts ready for technical design, build and test.
  • Analyse end‑to‑end processes, customer journeys, system interactions and operational impacts to identify improvement opportunities and inform solution options.
  • Work closely with engineers, architects and solution designers to define system behaviour, integration points, interface requirements, API interactions and technical dependencies.
  • Produce and maintain high‑quality technical analysis artefacts including process models, data mappings, source‑to‑target mappings, sequence diagrams, logical flows and traceability documentation.
  • Analyse structured and unstructured data to support solution definition, impact assessment, defect investigation and decision‑making.
  • Support backlog refinement and prioritisation with Product Owners and delivery teams, ensuring requirements are clear, testable, traceable and aligned to business value.
  • Assess change impacts across systems, processes, data and teams, identifying risks, assumptions, constraints and dependencies.
  • Work with test teams and stakeholders to support test scenario definition, validation, defect triage and solution acceptance.
  • Champion customer and colleague needs throughout analysis and delivery, ensuring solutions are practical, usable and aligned to the intended experience.
  • Collaborate effectively within agile multidisciplinary teams and contribute to continuous improvement in analysis standards, ways of working and team capability.

Skills and Experience We Can’t Do Without

  • Significant experience as a Technical Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst in complex technology delivery environments.
  • Proven ability to elicit, analyse and document business, functional and non‑functional requirements, producing high‑quality user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting artefacts.
  • Strong experience analysing APIs, integrations, interfaces, system interactions and dependencies across complex application landscapes.
  • Hands‑on experience with data technologies such as SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, DynamoDB, JSON and CSV, including data mapping, transformation logic and source‑to‑target definitions.
  • Ability to produce clear, structured documentation including process models, workflow diagrams, sequence diagrams, data flows, business rules and traceability matrices.
  • Proven experience working in agile multidisciplinary teams, supporting backlog refinement, iterative delivery and collaboration across product, engineering, architecture and test.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical thinking, structured problem‑solving and the ability to manage ambiguity while maintaining pace and quality.
  • Practical experience using analysis and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Draw.io or equivalent.
  • SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.

Skills and Experience We’d Like

  • Experience working in financial services, insurance or other regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of or experience working with the Student Loan Company and its operational, service or technology environment.
