Leidos is hiring for a Software Engineering Manager to work remotely, focusing on supporting the Metropolitan Police contract in the UK National Security, Defense and Intelligence Sector.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage software engineering teams delivering complex applications and services
- Provide technical leadership and guidance, ensuring adherence to engineering best practices
- Line manage engineers including performance reviews, career development, and mentoring
- Ensure code quality, maintainability, scalability, and security
- Establish and enforce engineering standards and development practices
- Drive adoption of modern engineering approaches (CI/CD, automation, code reviews)
- Support engineers in solving complex technical challenges and removing blockers
- Own and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs), including:
- Creation, review, and ongoing maintenance of ICDs
- Ensuring interface definitions are accurate and up to date
- Managing interface changes and dependencies
- Maintaining traceability between ICDs and system requirements
- Collaborate with architects and technical leads on system design
- Ensure technical documentation is produced and maintained
- Support governance, compliance, and audit requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Experience as a Software Engineering Manager or similar role
- Strong background in software development
- Experience managing engineering teams
- Experience delivering software across the full lifecycle
- Understanding of system integration and interface management
- Experience maintaining technical documentation
- Strong stakeholder communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in enterprise or government environments
- DevOps / CI/CD / Azure exposure
- Agile delivery experience
- Jira and Confluence experience
- Microservices and API design knowledge
- Experience with system integrations and third-party interfaces
- Understanding of security and governance requirements
