About The Role
The GetPaid Formats team is dedicated to creating seamless and efficient solutions for customers to receive money directly into their Wise accounts. You will be working in products like our Payment Links, Invoice and QuickPay, as well as our in-network payment method: Pay With Wise. Our goal is to make receiving money internationally as cheap and convenient as possible. We need an Engineering Lead to join our mission and help us build new ways of getting paid as well as improving the existing ones.
As the Engineering Lead, you will work closely with product to set up the team direction, work with engineers to set up the team vision, and mentor and grow engineers with the goal of building a high-performance team able to make Wise's offering for getting paid one of the best in the industry.

The GetPaid Formats team is part of the Global Product tribe, dedicated to enabling customers to receive money seamlessly and efficiently into their Wise accounts. We build innovative payment products that serve both businesses and consumers, creating convenient and reliable ways to get paid internationally.

- Invoice and payment link tools
- Developing new ways of getting paid such as subscriptions and in-person
- Enabling our products in more regions
Qualifications
- Experience leading teams and expanding products to navigate ongoing expansion.
- A strong product mindset and passion for user experience; you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points.
- Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Leading and inspiring your team of engineers to prioritise building the right things, in the right way.
- Ability to deliver work across multiple teams, coordinating your efforts across the organisation; your work will frequently involve cross-team collaboration.
- Ability to break down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver customer value.
- Experience in developing web applications and distributed systems in a production environment.
- Experience with common design and architectural patterns coupled with a passion for writing clean code that is performant and well-tested.
- Curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement.
- Following and advocating best coding practices, continuous delivery and code reviews.
- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation and designing schemas is a plus.
- Knowledge of Java and Spring Boot and experience with a messaging system, like Kafka, is a plus.
- Being part of the on-call rotation for our critical services and helping the team improve it, normally being on-call every 6-10 weeks.
