We are seeking a Technology Controls Manager to join the Technology Controls team within Tesco Bank, part of Barclays. This fast‑paced role supports IT Security and Cyber, implementing, monitoring and reporting on controls to strengthen the overall control environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Implement, monitor and report on Technology and Cyber Controls to support IT Security and Cyber.
  • Support internal and external audits and broader assurance activities, ensuring controls are robust, effective and aligned to regulatory expectations.
  • Assess the integrity and effectiveness of the bank’s internal control framework to mitigate risk and protect the bank’s operational, financial and reputational risk.
  • Hold deep knowledge of business areas, products, processes and platforms to assess risk.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures and findings.
  • Identify and investigate potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls, prioritising by severity to disrupt bank operations.
  • Develop reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment, including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Execute reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank’s internal controls framework, aligning with evolving policies, regulation and best practice.
  • Implement adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.

Leadership & Strategic Expectations

For senior leaders or a Vice President, the role involves setting strategy, driving requirements and making recommendations for change, planning resources, budgets and policies, leading a team, coaching specialists, advising stakeholders, managing risk, and collaborating with other work areas to deliver solutions.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in implementing, monitoring and reporting of Technology and Cyber Controls.
  • Experience working with US SOX requirements for General IT Controls within a financial services organisation.
  • Evidence of effective partnerships with Technology Directors and above.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Holding a relevant or equivalent ISACA qualification (CISM, CRISC, CISA, CISSP).

Location

This role can be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
