Join us as an API Analyst within Barclays UK. In this role you will collaborate with business areas and engineers to support technological changes, design and build APIs, engage third parties to deliver enhanced services, oversee API unit testing, manage defects, and identify business requirements and solutions that support the organisation in achieving its strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyse business problems and client requirements that require change within the organisation.
  • Develop business requirements that address business problems and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that proposed solutions meet their needs and expectations.
  • Support the creation of business cases that justify investment in proposed solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to determine the viability of proposed solutions.
  • Support the creation of reports on project progress to ensure proposed solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Develop operational and process designs to ensure solutions are delivered within the agreed scope.
  • Assist with change management activities, including the development of a traceability matrix to ensure proposed solutions are successfully implemented and embedded in the organisation.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information, including sensitive or difficult-to-communicate content, to stakeholders.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong business analysis experience within API/integration domains, with an understanding of RESTful APIs and their role in digital/customer journeys at a technical level.
  • Proven ability to read and translate Open API/Swagger specifications and user story cards into definitive API requirements (user stories, acceptance criteria, data models).
  • Experience delivering API/integration changes across the full lifecycle, working with engineering, architecture and third parties.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to triage API defects and incidents.
  • Experience with analyzing request/response messages and understanding front‑end utilisation of data by API consumers.
  • Experience in a regulated financial services environment, with awareness of security and data considerations.
  • Knowledge of risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job‑specific technical skills.

Additional Highly Valued Skills

  • Problem‑solving and triage of API defects and incidents.
  • Analysis of request/response messages and front‑end data utilisation.
  • Regulated financial services experience with security and data awareness.
