Comcast, a Fortune 50 leader in media and technology, seeks a seasoned accounting professional to lead the GCO revenue and bad debt accounting functions, primarily focused on Sky. This role oversees the monthly close, including recording revenue from billing platforms, internal controls, and compliance related to IFRS 15 and CECL.
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly and quarterly close processes for revenue and bad debt accounting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee application of IFRS 15 for customer contracts, including review of complex arrangements, contract modifications, and revenue allocation conclusions.
- Oversee accounting and reporting for bad debt and allowance for credit losses, including reserve analysis, judgments, and supporting documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and documentation within the revenue and bad debt processes.
- Partner with leadership on implementation of process changes and system enhancements.
- Support automation and standardization initiatives impacting the close and reporting cycles.
- Provide leadership and direction to managers and professional staff within the revenue and bad debt accounting teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Direct all functions of the accounting department—including company policies and procedures, internal controls, Treasury function, chart of accounts and external and internal audits.
- Prepare the Company’s financial statements in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Review and manage the supporting account reconciliations and schedules, reflecting the balances contained in the Company’s financial statements.
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Maintain regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
