About Us

Kingfisher is one of the UK and Europe’s largest home improvement groups, with brands including B&Q, Screwfix, Castorama and Brico Dépôt, serving millions of customers across multiple markets.

The role

We are seeking a Data Capability & Community Lead to join our Group Data & AI team, playing a key role in driving how data creates value across our multi‑brand, international business. Reporting to the Head of Data Operations & Enablement, this new role sits at the heart of our Group Data & AI function and is responsible for shaping a connected, capable and consistent data practice across Kingfisher. You will build and nurture a vibrant Data & AI community through communities of practice, champion networks and shared learning, while also designing skills frameworks, career pathways and development programmes to attract, grow and retain data talent. In parallel, you will lead the standardisation, adoption and optimisation of our data and AI tooling estate to drive efficiency, reuse and value. Acting as a central connector across data, analytics, data science, platforms and governance, you will ensure that people, skills, tools and ways of working evolve together, strengthening our data culture, deepening organisational maturity, and supporting the long‑term success of Kingfisher’s Data & AI strategy. Please note that this role will be based out of our Kingfisher Head Office in Paddington with an expectation of 12 days a month in the office.

What You'll Do

  • Reporting to the Head of Data Operations & Enablement, you’ll lead three connected areas:
    • Community & culture — Build and grow our Data & AI community across Group and banners. Run our Communities of Practice, Champions network, learning events and collaboration forums. Make Kingfisher a place where data people want to work.
    • Capability & talent — Design the skills frameworks, career paths and development journeys that attract, grow and retain great data talent across the Group.
    • Tooling & standardisation — Lead the assessment, standardisation and adoption of our data and BI tooling landscape. Drive reuse, efficiency and consistent ways of working, partnering with Architecture, Engineering and Platforms.

You’ll be a central connector across data disciplines driving alignment balancing Group standards with local autonomy, and making the case for value, savings and ROI.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience leading data communities, capability uplift, or a Centre of Excellence in a large, federated organisation.
  • Experience of building a community that sustained itself and delivered value.
  • Track record of designing skills frameworks, career paths or learning programmes.
  • A connector — energising, curious, pragmatic, and able to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Comfort operating in matrix or federated environments, where central standards meet local autonomy.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

What We Offer

An inclusive environment where your potential is limited only by your imagination. We encourage new ideas, support experimentation, and strive to create a workplace where everyone can be their best self. We also offer a competitive benefits package and plenty of opportunities to stretch and grow your career.

Our customers come from all walks of life — and so do we. We’re committed to ensuring all colleagues, future colleagues, and applicants are treated equally, regardless of age, gender, marital or civil partnership status, ethnicity, culture, religion, belief, political opinion, disability, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.
