Main Purpose of the Role & Responsibilities
As a Technical Architect (Consultant) in Kainos, you’ll lead teams and develop high‑quality solutions that delight our customers and impact users worldwide. As a technical leader on a project, you’ll work with customer architects to agree on technical designs, advise on estimated effort and technical implications of user stories and journeys. You’ll manage, coach and develop a small number of staff, focusing on performance management and career development. It’s a fast‑paced environment, so sound, reasoned decisions are essential. You’ll also learn about new technologies and approaches, growing your skill set along the way.
Minimum (Essential) Requirements
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot and AWS
- Experience delivering software designs for multi‑tiered modern software applications
- Technical ownership of a product/software project, including architecture, estimation, product planning and user‑story/requirement creation
- Understanding of non‑functional concerns for customers and experience incorporating these into application design
- Experience with public cloud platforms, such as AWS and Azure, including SaaS and PaaS offerings
- Ability to communicate technical design clearly in conversation, documentation and presentations
- Ability to make effective decisions within fast‑moving delivery
- Demonstrated ability in managing, coaching and developing junior team members and the wider community
Desirable
- Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate issues to technical and non‑technical people
- Experience with multiple programming languages and data storage technologies
- Experience in managing others, setting objectives, giving feedback and leading performance reviews
- Active participation in knowledge sharing activities, both within the team and at a wider capability level and externally where appropriate
- Participation in technology communities
