Overview

Join to apply for the 2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer role at hackajob. Location: Huntingdon, UK (On-site). Clearance: High level of security clearance required (DV – Developed Vetting).

Responsibilities

  • The role will provide technical exposure across outcomes-based project activities and operational (Business as Usual) support activities.
  • Provide remote and on-site support.
  • Contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation and provide material to support project work or the operational support service.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables.
  • Own a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPI’s and SLA’s.
  • Provide out of hours on-call support.

Required skills and knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of virtualized environments such as VMware and Hyper-V, with VMware Horizon knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows Server environments (Server 2008-2022), including OS builds Windows 10/11, AD, DNS, DHCP and GPO from design to implementation and support.
  • Strong Linux system administration skills (Ubuntu / CentOS).
  • General knowledge of TCP/IP and networking technologies including load balancing and firewalls.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft stack technologies (SharePoint, Skype for Business / Teams, MS SQL, System Centre, Office365, SCCM & SCOM, Power BI, MS Exchange) and CLI tooling (PowerShell).
  • General knowledge of SAN storage technologies.
  • Knowledge of 2 factor authentication technologies.
  • Some scripting knowledge/experience.
  • Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills with ownership of complex incidents and customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience producing and updating technical documentation to a high standard.
  • Knowledge of helpdesk ticketing systems.
  • ITIL 3 or ITIL 4 at Foundation level or above.

Location and clearance

Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Clearance: Eligible for UK DV Security Clearance.
