Your impact

Leonardo are looking to employ a Support Engineer at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire as part of the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business. This job involves being part of the wider Leonardo engineering team, the work will be varied and will involve working with a large number of internal and external stakeholders, but the primary focus will be working as a multi-skilled Field Service Representative (FSR) providing direct support to the UK Typhoon Force based at RAFs Coningsby and Lossiemouth, including supporting Typhoon Force when their assets are deployed. RAF Coningsby will be your contractual location, but temporary working in the UK and overseas will be required to support Leonardo's wider business needs.

Examples of how you will support the CS3 line of business will include:

  • Being a Captor Radar and Praetorian DASS focal point for UK MoD and industry customers
  • Assisting customers with technical and logistic issues across multiple regulatory environments
  • Understanding and managing operational priorities
  • Ensuring, whenever possible, assets are kept 'on wing'
  • Working to reduce the number of No Fault Founds (NFFs)
  • Supporting trials and development work
  • Supporting the Typhoon Part 145 on and off-aircraft environments
  • Supporting the Typhoon Part M environment
  • Supporting Leonardo back office functions
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with: The UK MoD, BAE Systems, Internal stakeholders, Other companies/agencies as required

Maintaining individual and team currency by ensuring the following are up-to-date:

  • Mandatory training
  • Authorisations
  • Deployability readiness (vaccinations, passports, visas, etc)

Supporting wider Leonardo UK business interests as reasonably required, in line with the Engineering Job Family Framework (JFF) and relevant Engineering Competency Framework. Supporting non-UK Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft and/or customers in the UK and overseas. Willingness to develop knowledge and expertise in other systems if/when support contract evolves, i.e. in addition to Radar and DASS. Specialist Captor Radar and Praetorian DASS training will be provided.

What you'll bring

  • A full UK driving licence (Category B)
  • The ability to work shifts (typically a week of day shift followed by a week of back shift)
  • Experience working with aircraft and/or in an aircraft maintenance environment
  • The ability to occasionally work away from RAF Coningsby, including overseas
  • A level of fitness/health that would enable passing company pre-overseas travel medical checks
  • A willingness to be vaccinated to facilitate overseas travel in accordance with MoD requirements; whilst not always required as examples vaccinations could include: Tick Borne Encephalitis (TBE), Polio, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Tuberculosis (TB), Hepatitis (Hep) A, Hep B, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever

It is highly desirable that you have:

  • Experience working within an airworthiness environment
  • Experience of Captor Radar
  • Experience of Praetorian DASS
  • Eurofighter Typhoon on-aircraft experience
  • Experience of Radar
  • Experience of Electronic Warfare
  • HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience working at offsite locations, i.e. remote from back office/main site support

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) apply, this includes meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC).
