hackajob is partnering directly with Kingfisher to hire for this role. We are looking for a Technical Specialist to join our Infrastructure Services function, to own the operation and continuous improvement of Kingfisher's enterprise storage, backup and storage networking services. You will ensure our services remain secure, resilient, cost-effective and high performing. By supporting and continuously improving these critical platforms, you will enable reliable technology services that help colleagues across Kingfisher deliver great outcomes for customers every day.

This role will be based out of our B&Q office just outside Southampton, with an expectation of 12 days a month in the office. There will also be out of hours support required in this position - 24/7 on call support in a one week in four rotation.

  • Own and support enterprise storage, backup and storage networking platforms, ensuring secure, resilient and high-performing services.
  • Deliver operational management of storage services in line with agreed service levels, performance measures and operational standards.
  • Manage incidents, problems, changes and major incidents, driving service stability and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor capacity, performance and lifecycle requirements to ensure platforms remain scalable, efficient and cost-effective.
  • Administer and optimise block, file and object storage technologies, including volumes, shares, snapshots and replication services.
  • Support backup, recovery and disaster recovery services, including recovery testing and validation activities.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, engineering, architecture, security and supplier partners to deliver platform improvements, upgrades, migrations and automation initiatives.

Experience supporting enterprise storage environments, including block, file and object storage technologies.

  • Hands-on expertise with enterprise storage platforms such as NetApp, HPE or IBM solutions.
  • Experience managing file shares, NFS exports, volumes, snapshots and replication services.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise backup, recovery and disaster recovery technologies, including recovery testing and cloud data protection.
  • Experience supporting SAN environments, including Fibre Channel, zoning, multipathing, performance optimisation and storage networking technologies.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows, Linux, VMware and infrastructure automation or scripting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with experience supporting production services through incident, problem and change management processes.
