Head of Solutioning in London

The Head of Solutioning leads the Central Solution Team (CST), a cross-business enablement and governance function responsible for the design, standardization, assurance, and continual improvement of client solutions across all UK&I business lines. This role ensures solutions are commercially viable, scalable, compliant, integrated, and aligned to customer outcomes, reducing risk, cost, and complexity while improving win rates and delivery success.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Strategic Direction
  • Establish and lead a centrally governed solutioning function sitting across UK&I Business Lines.
  • Define the strategic roadmap for solution standardization, governance, and integration across UK&I.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of industry-aligned solution leads and specialist solution architects.
  • Resource management for the solutioning team, ensuring appropriate resources are provided for pre-sales and bid activity.
  • Proactive workforce management, forecasting capacity and capability growth requirements to ensure optimal team size.
  • Work closely with the CTO and Enterprise Architecture communities to work within enterprise architecture guiderails to solution pan-business lines.
  • Work closely with the pre-sales function to assess pre-sales opportunities and be the point of contact for bid response.
• Solution Design & Assurance
  • Oversee end-to-end solution design lifecycle including qualification, shaping, risk assessment, governance, approval, and handover to delivery.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to UK regulatory, contractual, and commercial standards.
  • Drive consistency, reuse, and alignment with defined solution frameworks and service catalogues.
  • Lead the Solution Design Authority, ensuring architecture quality, scope integrity, and alignment with delivery standards.
• Commercial & Financial Governance
  • Provide oversight on deal economics, margin protection, pricing validation, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Challenge and support submissions to commercial approval boards to ensure viability and compliance.
  • Reduce bid cost, cycle time, and commercial exposure through early intervention and triage.
• Industry & Market Alignment
  • Integrate solution leaders into industry teams to maintain deep sector knowledge and ensure relevance to client needs.
  • Drive cross-industry solution reuse and the harvesting of innovation into standard offerings.
  • Collaborate with business lines to ensure service offerings evolve in line with market demand.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the horizontal bridge between consulting, managed services, technology practices, and industry teams.
  • Partner with Sales, Bid Management, Delivery, Commercial, Legal, and Risk teams to ensure cohesive and compliant solutioning.
  • Influence stakeholders to embed consistent solutioning practices without removing Business Line accountability for delivery.
• Delivery Transition & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure seamless handover from solution to delivery, including risk logs, scope definitions, and transition artefacts.
  • Establish mechanisms to capture lessons learned and feed them back into solution frameworks.
  • Embed continuous improvement, enhancing standards, frameworks, and delivery predictability.

Success Measures / KPIs

• Commercial: Win rate, margin variance, write-offs, scope creep.
• Operational: Bid cost, solution reuse, bid cycle time, governance adherence.
• Risk: Regulatory/contractual breaches, executive escalations.
• Quality: Proposal quality scores, bid compliance rate, solution clarity and amendments.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

• Essential: Significant experience leading multi-disciplinary solution architecture teams.
• Strong understanding of managed services, consulting, and technology delivery models.
