Overview
Responsible for setting the technical vision and operational leadership for Arqiva's pre-sales consultancy function.

The role provides strategic direction across solution design, technology positioning and customer engagement, ensuring that our media, broadcast, and cloud architectures are clearly articulated and fully aligned with business objectives.

Acts as a "player-manager", combining hands-on solution expertise with the ability to lead, mentor and inspire a high-performing team.

Represents Arqiva's technology strategy to customers, partners and industry forums through compelling communication and thought leadership.

What you'll be working on

  • Define and lead the long-term strategy for the pre-sales consultancy function, ensuring that Arqiva's technical capabilities across media, broadcast, cloud, and hybrid-IP solutions are fully aligned with customer needs, market direction and organisational commercial priorities.
  • Take the lead design role on major strategic and complex bids, acting as the solution design authority, agreeing the architectural direction, assuring technical integrity, and shaping compelling customer solutions that reinforce Arqiva's technology strategy and competitive differentiation.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of pre-sales consultants creating a high-performance culture.
  • Establish the frameworks, standards and best-practice methodologies that underpin solution development, ensuring proposals are robust, scalable, and commercially viable.
  • Act as a senior technical authority during customer engagements, influencing decision-making and articulating Arqiva's technology roadmap in clear and compelling terms.
  • Partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Delivery teams to shape go-to-market propositions and ensure alignment between customer needs and Arqiva's capabilities.
  • Lead complex opportunity shaping, including high-value tenders, transformation programmes, and strategic accounts.
  • Champion innovation by tracking emerging technologies across cloud, streaming, spectrum, resilient networks, and next-generation broadcast architectures; drive adoption into the pre-sales practice.
  • Oversee continuous improvement of tools, templates, modelling approaches and knowledge repositories to improve efficiency and quality of output.
  • Provide input into OPEX/CAPEX planning and own accountable elements of the department's operating plan.
  • Model Arqiva's cultural expectations, promoting collaboration, transparency, and continuous development within the team and across the broader organisation.
  • Build strong internal and external networks, fostering relationships with technology partners, vendors, and the wider industry.

What we're looking for

  • Technical Architecture – Ability to design end-to-end media, broadcast, and cloud solutions, spanning contribution, distribution, playout, IP, and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Cloud & Virtualisation – Deep experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud-native architecture design, migration patterns, and security best practice.
  • Media & Broadcast Technologies – Strong understanding of encoding, multiplexing, content delivery, video workflows, orchestration, and network resilience.
  • Diagnostic & Analytical Skills – Proficient with engineering, monitoring, and diagnostic tools; capable of resolving complex technical issues.
  • Communication & Presentation – Able to translate deeply technical concepts into clear narratives for senior customers and stakeholders; confident presenter.
  • Project & Programme Awareness – Ability to oversee multiple workstreams, manage priorities, and ensure structured delivery of pre-sales activities.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement – Track record of introducing new methods, technologies, or practices that uplift capability and efficiency.
  • Budget & Commercial Awareness – Comfortable managing team budgets and contributing to commercially robust solution design.
  • Relationship Building – Skilled in developing strong partnerships across internal functions, customers, suppliers, and technology ecosystem partners.
  • Leadership & Management – Demonstrated strength in decision-making, coaching, adaptability, and building high-performing teams.
  • Knowledge & Experience
  • Significant background in pre-sales, solution architecture, or technical consultancy within media, broadcast, telecommunications, or cloud-led environments.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams in a complex organisation.
  • Strong track record contributing to strategic bids, large-scale transformation programmes, or major customer initiatives.
  • Broad understanding of commercial constructs, delivery models, and lifecycle management of technical solutions.
  • Experience of working directly with senior customers, presenting complex solutions and influencing technical and commercial decision-making.

Qualifications: Degree (or equivalent professional capability) in engineering, computer science, media technology, or a relevant field
