Role description: This role plays a key part in driving Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) across the Naval Ships business, ensuring effective management of product information throughout the entire product lifecycle. Working closely with stakeholders, you will support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of PLM processes, policies, systems and digital tools, helping to maintain robust configuration control, data integrity and governance standards. The role also contributes to the successful adoption of PLM and Digital Thread capabilities through auditing, reporting, performance measurement and the delivery of insightful product information and technical dashboards.
Core duties:
- Shaping and delivering electrical PLM solutions that support effective product lifecycle management across complex engineering programmes.
- Partnering with engineering, IT and project stakeholders to define requirements and embed best-practice PLM processes.
- Supporting the development of the Digital Thread, ensuring effective integration of engineering data and business systems.
- Overseeing data governance, configuration management and reporting to maintain compliance and support business performance.
- Acting as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance, mentoring and continuous improvement recommendations across the organisation.
Essential skills:
- Experience within the electrical discipline working with CAD modelling and Cable Management tools and processes.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, elicit and align complex business requirements, and influence stakeholders to resolve conflicts, ensuring successful agreement, implementation, and delivery of PLM objectives.
- Academic qualification in a STEM related subject, and ability/willingness to become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineer through an appropriate recognised professional institution.
The Outfitting and Electrical Information & Systems team sits within the PLM Capability Centre and supports major maritime programmes across the UK. Working closely with colleagues across Naval Ships, Submarines and Maritime Services, the team delivers innovative PLM and Digital Thread solutions that improve the way engineering data is managed throughout the product lifecycle.
