Salary: £34,000 p.a. + depending on experience

Location: The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are Monday and Tuesday.

The role involves creating standout campaigns that bring children’s books to life across social media, digital platforms and brand partnerships. You will be joining a collaborative and friendly Marketing team, reporting into the Senior Marketing Manager. You will work to grow the children’s list through targeted, innovative, strategic, consumer-focused marketing campaigns.

Key responsibilities:
  • Create, implement, manage and analyse campaigns which use the full marketing mix to drive sales of our children’s books across all formats.
  • Build, develop and maintain excellent working relationships with authors, agents and publishing partners.
  • Proactively pursue marketing opportunities and new ways of reaching readers, via brand partners, media partners and key stakeholders.
  • Brief design teams and freelance designers to produce high-quality visual assets for campaigns.
  • Understand the importance of social media and digital activity as part of campaigns, working with the internal digital teams to drive children’s priorities and to create holistic campaign strategies across online/social and print.
  • Contribute to discussions and drive thinking around wider publishing strategy, list shape and acquisitions.
  • Stay abreast of key publishing trends and the wider book market.
  • Manage individual title marketing budgets and work with the Marketing Director to strategically set budgets for titles and to adjust reactively as opportunities arise.
  • Support a culture of collaboration, working closely with our publicity, sales and editorial teams.
  • Confidently communicate marketing campaigns to all internal and external stakeholders, including Bloomsbury’s global offices.
  • Project manage non-title specific campaigns/activations when required.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Experience and knowledge of marketing brands to family audiences, and a demonstrable passion for children's and YA books.
  • Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders such as authors, editors, freelancer designers/animators, media agencies.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of the marketing mix, including digital and traditional advertising, catalogues, promotional activity and research.
  • Ability to cross-market and build strong new partnerships with external brands and organisations.
  • Excellent inter-personal, presentation and organisational skills, in addition to strong copy-writing skills and clear creative vision.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on several different projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of current marketing best practices, trends and opportunities across on/offline platforms.
  • Highly self-motivated and enjoy working as part of a team, but able to work independently.
  • Understanding of design software (In-Design/Photoshop) desirable.
