Transform emerging stories across news and pop culture into engaging shortform video content for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube shorts. The i Paper is seeking a junior video producer to transform compelling news and pop culture stories into engaging social video content for TikTok and Instagram. The Junior Video Producer will have a solid news judgment and excellent production skills to produce high-quality video content, targeted towards The i Paper's social channels – with a focus on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube shorts. You will use creativity to respond to the news agenda with videos across our vertical video social platforms. You will be responsible for pitching, pre-production, shooting and editing your videos as part of this role. You will also work with our social team to ideate, experiment and find new audiences to reach with our videos.
Responsibilities
- Primarily producing shortform vertical videos for social platforms.
- End-to-end production: pitching, writing, shooting and editing.
- Incorporating motion graphics and visual effects (such as animations, text overlays and thumbnails) as required.
- Ensure videos are delivered on time and meet the highest quality standards.
- Exploring ways to increase followers on our vertical video platforms – TikTok, Instagram and YouTube shorts.
- Coming up with creative ideas to showcase the best of The i Paper, and reactive approaches based on the news agenda.
- Monitoring social video trends, breaking news, live events and pitching reactive video stories that will reach new audiences.
- Using our vertical video platforms to grow brand awareness around The i Paper – with the goal of increasing our social followers and then converting subscribers.
- Collaborating with news desks and reporters to tell stories in a video format.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Excellent understanding of video for social media and the differing requirements for each platform.
- Experience in pitching, writing, shooting and editing shortform videos.
- Fast, efficient editing in Adobe Premier Pro or similar tools.
- Strong communication skills, including ability to pitch stories well.
- An experimental, creative approach to problem solving.
- Strong news sense and a passion for telling stories that reach new audiences.
- Good knowledge of trends and how to spot emerging topics.
