Ready to launch your career in publishing? Hachette UK is looking for passionate and curious individuals for 11 internships across editorial, publicity, marketing and communications.
Hachette UK is the UK’s second-largest book publishing group, on a mission to make it easy for everyone to discover new worlds of ideas, learning, entertainment, and opportunity. The company is made up of 10 autonomous publishing divisions and over 60 imprints, with a rich and diverse history and an incredible range of authors. Hachette UK has published some of the world’s most successful authors, including Candice Carty-Williams, Colson Whitehead, Martina Cole, Michael Connelly, John Grisham, Stephen King, Stieg Larsson, Nelson Mandela, Stephenie Meyer, Ian Rankin, Akala and Malala Yousafzai.
These internships are designed for people at entry-level, or those looking to switch industries. You\’ll gain hands on experience, work with bestselling authors and major titles, and learn about the publishing from beginning to end.
Marketing, publicity and communications
In this role, you’ll help the team seek as many new opportunities to reach readers as possible. You will assist on a wide variety of administrative tasks and campaigns (creatively and logistically), as well as playing a key role in processes such an influencer outreach programme and data analysis.
Key skills in this area: Stakeholder Management, Commercial Awareness, Copy-writing aptitude, Eye for detail, Problem solving, Social media savvy, Time management and prioritisation skills, Market focus. You may already possess some of these skills and be able to demonstrate them, or you may simply be keen to develop them further.
Editorial
In this role, you have the opportunity to develop a wide range of editorial and organisational skills and build market knowledge, while working with both editors and designers to gain a solid understanding of acquiring and developing books.
Key skills in this area: Eye for detail, personal organisation, customer-focused, excellent standard of written and spoken English, adaptability, problem solving. You may already possess some of these skills and be able to demonstrate them, or you may simply be keen to develop them further.
