Be part of a creative team producing successful comedy podcasts, helping deliver episodes, content, and live shows to audiences nationwide. Plosive is an award-winning production company, creating audio and video content and live comedy shows. We produce award-winning and chart-topping comedy podcasts including Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster, Sara & Cariad’s Weirdos Book Club, Single Ladies In Your Area, Lucy & Sam’s Perfect Brains and Northern News. We also produce live comedy across the country, including solo shows and tours with artists including Tim Key, Nish Kumar, Sara Pascoe and Sindhu Vee. We run large-scale gigs in London, produce the Wells Comedy Festival in Somerset, and promote live shows of podcasts.
Plosive is looking for an Assistant Podcast Producer to support the Podcast Producer in the production, delivery and promotion of Plosive’s slate of original podcasts, and audio and video content. The Assistant Podcast Producer will facilitate the effective creation and distribution of Plosive’s podcasts and use of the in-house recording studio. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with a passion for comedy and podcasts to develop their skills, assist with our existing audio and video output and play an integral role in the expansion of Plosive’s podcast network, public reach, audience, listener/viewership, and brand.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting the Podcast Producer, Company Director and Head of Producing with the production of Plosive’s slate of podcasts
- Supporting with in-house recording, and day-to-day running of Plosive’s studio, including looking after external bookings, liaising with clients and setting up for recording sessions as required
- Uploading, scheduling and publishing audio and video content to podcast platforms
- Filing and labelling files
- Updating and scheduling podcasts’ social media content
- Creating and subtitling promotional videos for social media
- Transcribing podcast episodes
- Developing recording and editing skills to support the Podcast Producer (in our studio, on location and remotely)
- Assisting the Podcast Producer with episode and series planning
- Assisting with talent booking and guest research
- Monitoring podcast listener figures and track downloads against marketing activity
- Coordinating and delivering marketing campaigns for Plosive’s podcasts
- Working with the wider team to promote live podcast shows
- Office administration: ordering supplies, booking contractors, arranging deliveries
- Assisting at Plosive live shows, particularly press nights
- Representing Plosive at comedy, podcast and arts events and festivals in the UK and potentially abroad, developing relationships within the industry and acting as an ambassador for Plosive’s work
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in contemporary live comedy and podcasts
- General support and other duties as required by the role
Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Essential
- A passion for and knowledge of podcasts, particularly comedy podcasts
- Basic audio production experience, including using audio editing software, preferably Logic Pro X
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and the ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
- IT skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Docs
- Knowledge of different social media platforms and trends and skills in managing these
- The willingness and dedication to learn new skills as required
Desirable
- Video production experience
- Experience using video editing software, preferably Premiere Pro
- Experience of using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
- Knowledge of YouTube Studio and YouTube trends
- Knowledge of and interest in live comedy, the radio landscape and wider comedy scene

Terms and Conditions
- Hours: 35 hours per week, full time. We welcome conversations about working flexibly.
- Due to the nature of this role regular evening and weekend work will be required, and some travel will be required.
- Relocation to Edinburgh for some of the month of August may be required depending on Plosive’s Edinburgh Fringe presence each year.
- Location: London-based office (SE1), with some working from home possible.
- Contract: Permanent, with a three-month probationary period.
- Holiday entitlement: 20 days per year, plus additional or substitute Public or Bank Holidays as are decided by the Company.
- Notice period: 1 month.
