What you\’ll be doing

This is a term-time only role

We are looking for a Sales Consultant to drive sales of print, digital and other services in the main to secondary schools/FE colleges and supporting the primary-school team in a given geographical area. This is achieved by visiting schools and carrying out one-to-one consultations with heads of department or other decision makers, making departmental presentations and setting up book displays. Setting up and working at exhibitions, both locally and nationally, is also an integral part of the role

Reporting to the Head of Sales: Secondary Schools and Colleges for UK Sales you will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on sales in your area, completing information electronically both daily and weekly. You will be targeted on growth in your area and tasked with managing targets and tracking your own performance.

  • Develop sales in the relevant institutions within the given area to achieve year-on year growth.
  • Work with our in-house platforms and CRM system to use data to inform your decision making.
  • Build relationships with school and college decision makers to ensure new and renewed business.
  • Identify and develop key accounts within the area to ensure we build strong relationships with schools and colleges.
  • Check in with customers at key points to offer help, solve problems, and keep engagement high.
  • Represent the company at local and national exhibitions to promote and sell our services and develop our reputation as a service provider

In addition, you will:

  • Gather and share feedback from schools with the wider business to support product improvement and to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Attend sales training days and put into practice techniques to improve sales
  • Spend time learning about new resources, particularly key courses and digital products and services, in order to promote them in a knowledgeable and professional manner
  • Attend annual conferences and regular team meetings to improve knowledge of products and services

Who we are looking for

This role will suit someone who enjoys being part of a busy and energetic team that’s engaging with customers every day. You will want to be part of the Secondary Sales Team but also work well independently, demonstrating “owner mentality” by knowing and developing your own geographical area. Experience in selling digital resources would be very useful.

We’d love you to have the following skills / knowledge:

  • To have an enthusiasm for education and experience in supporting teachers in using digital tools.
  • To be a pro-active and energetic self-starter with a focus on solutions.
  • To enjoy working as part of a busy and growing team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with customers and internally.
  • Customer Service, including conversations senior teachers in schools and colleges.
  • To show us that you are highly organised and able to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Solid IT skills, across MS Office packages.
  • Ability to work with customers and colleagues at all levels.
  • Confident with digital platforms and able to quickly learn the features and benefits of our products.
  • Comfortable working with CRM systems and related platforms.
