The Technical field service engineer is responsible for supporting Hach’s manufactured products within a customer setting, through their full life cycle from commissioning to preventative maintenance, to eventual repair and replacement. This position is part of the UK & Ireland customer service department. The role is fully remote, and all necessary equipment and company vehicles are provided.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
- Conducting commissioning, general service, repairs, maintenance functions and calibrations on equipment within customer premises primarily in the Middlesbrough to Newcastle area but at times extending their reach to support the UK occasionally. This will be undertaken under the direction of the UK-based centralized dispatch planning team.
- Interpretation of maintenance manuals, schematics, and application information to complete the relevant service-related activity. Being flexible to learn and develop your own skills from various forms of training medium.
- Managing your offsite administration duties such as effective stock control, technical support and relevant customer facing document production.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- You will need a strong mechanical, electronic & electrical skillset with a relevant experience or further education qualification.
- At least 2 years’ experience as field service technician or in a relevant instrumentation/calibration role.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel long distances and lodge away from home (~ 8-10 nights a month when required to fulfill required duties).
