We’re looking for a Junior Data Scientist. Habito is making it easier than ever to get a mortgage, with cutting-edge technology and a straightforward service that puts customers in control. We are looking for a data scientist to undertake an in-depth analysis on an ongoing basis with the huge amount of data that we have. You will design, analyse and build a narrative around behaviours, tracking partnership and any other required data analysis. You will be the ‘go to’ person, owner and distributor of data and analytics across the business.

More about what you’ll do:

  • Ensuring the business operates with a high level data-driven mindset
  • Driving commercial outcomes coupled with identifying and reporting upon underutilised data
  • Applying advanced statistical techniques to model user behaviour, identifying causal impact and attribution, building and benchmarking key metrics
  • Delivering training across the business to ensure functional experts are empowered to understand relevant and significant data points
  • Identifying data ‘gaps’ and solutions to capture more data, leveraging our competitive edge
  • Applying machine learning and statistical modelling to new products
  • Working closely with the CEO and Exec team
  • Other adhoc projects/duties as the business requires

About you:

  • Strong SQL skills, with experience cleaning, transforming, and extracting useful information from complex datasets.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data modelling.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable with condensing complex issues and information into an understandable package for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with using dashboards and visualisations to present information.
  • Degree in an analytical subject (Maths, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science etc).
  • Solid understanding of statistics and interpretation of data.
  • 2+ years of experience in an analytical role, but willing to consider strong graduate candidates as well.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets (Google Sheets, MS Excel) and their use in business modelling.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with Looker, or other business dashboard/BI tools (Tableau, Power BI etc).
  • Familiarity with Python for scripting, data analysis, and data transformation (pandas, polars, PySpark etc).
  • Familiarity with version control using Git.
  • Familiarity with AWS ecosystems and tools: Redshift, S3, Athena, EMR etc.
  • Familiarity with task automation and orchestration tools like Airflow, cron, Google Apps scripts, Zapier etc.

The stated experience level is a guide and does not preclude applications from candidates with more or less experience, provided the requisite skills can be demonstrated.
