We are seeking a dynamic, talented SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our SEND Team and deliver high quality support to SEN students. We are looking for someone who aims for excellence at all times and has a passion to make a difference to the lives of our pupils. Your professional, friendly approach, great customer service and positive attitude are essential in this busy role.

Hatcham Primary is an Ofsted rated 'Good' two-form entry Primary School from Nursery to Year 6. As a school we will continue to set high expectations, but it is with the support and engagement of our families that these expectations can be achieved.

About the role: We are seeking dedicated, empathetic individuals to work as part of the Learning Support Team and deliver high quality support to SEN students in order for them to make good progress in school. Working under the direction of the SENDCo, you will be responsible for providing effective, high-quality SEN support in-class, under the direction of the class teacher. The role is term time only (42.9 weeks per year), 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Working hours will be negotiable for the right candidate but will need to suit the needs of the School.

Essential application requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience of delivering interventions for students with SEN
  • Extensive knowledge of special educational needs and how to support students who struggle to learn for a variety of reasons

We are particularly focusing on the development of our support staff; you will be encouraged and supported to:

  • Engage in relevant externally accredited programmes and apprenticeships
  • Attend appropriate training and development opportunities and keep up to date with current educational developments and legislation affecting Initial Teacher Training and development of educational practitioners and leaders
  • Reciprocally share expertise and skills with others in the Trust and outside the Trust, to ensure best practice, consistency in business support and ongoing improvement
