Thank you for your interest in the Teacher of English post at Haberdashers' Abraham Darby. We have an excellent opportunity for an inspirational, innovative and enthusiastic teacher of English to join us after October half-term (ideally) or in January 2027. This is a12 month temporary post to cover adoption leave. We are looking to appoint a teacher who can deliver the English curriculum across KS3 and KS4. The ability and desire to deliver KS5 would also be an advantage and most welcome but not essential. If you are passionate that pupils should access a rich curriculum from 11-18, meaningful enrichment and opportunities to think beyond the classroom - then this role is for you!

We believe that every single child who joins us has the potential to be knowledgeable, articulate and successful. It is important this resonates with all candidates. Equally important is subject expertise, which is critical to support strong curriculum planning and implementation. You will have high standards for your pupils and you will be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school (extra-curricular activities). We are looking for someone who is able to enthuse, motivate and inspire children, generating a love for learning.

This full-time post is suitable for both experienced qualified teachers and those beginning their career in the profession (ECTs). We welcome applications from forward-thinking and creative colleagues who have a genuine passion for English and would relish the opportunity to share their skills and expertise with our pupils. Ideally we are looking for someone who wants to make their mark in helping take the department and the Academy to the next level. The successful candidate will join us at a very exciting stage in its development both as a school and a department.

Our pupils are delightful. We are minutes away from Ironbridge Gorge and some beautiful countryside and we'd love to have you on our team. We look forward to receiving your application soon!
