About Us
The first American Formula 1 team to compete since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made a memorable debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Now, nine years later, we continue to grow and aim for future success, coming off our second-best season to date.
We’re a racing team — not a corporate machine — with three HQs in Kannapolis, US; Banbury, UK; and Maranello, Italy. Known as the ‘family team,’ we foster a passionate and hardworking environment where team members contribute across various areas and see the impact of their work.
Position Overview
This role reports to the RTS Chief Mechanic or their designee and is based in Banbury, UK. You will be responsible for assembling and servicing Haas F1 Race Car components.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote teamwork and effective communication across departments.
- Maintain cleanliness and condition of your work area.
- Follow engineering procedures related to assembly, operation, and safety.
- Ensure components are built to high standards and specifications.
- Maintain and service pit stop and off-car equipment, including setup and tooling.
- Build and service race and heritage chassis according to the Chief Mechanics’ expectations.
- Support departments with turnarounds, engineering projects, car builds, and event support.
- Report reliability issues and seek advice for out-of-the-ordinary tasks.
- Follow safety regulations at all venues.
- Perform any other duties delegated by the RTS Chief Mechanic.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar mechanical role within Formula 1, World Sports Cars, or F2 preferred. Demonstrable professionalism and a strong motorsport service record are advantageous.
• GCSE, High School Diploma, or equivalent required; further education such as Trade School, Apprenticeship, or University Degree is desirable.
Skills and Knowledge
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Comprehensive mechanical understanding from motorsport experience.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and information.
• High standards of work and attention to detail.
• Basic fabrication and machining skills.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Good communication, ability to work under pressure, self-motivation, and time management skills.
Additional Requirements
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dev 365, and 3DX preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow complex regulations regarding shipment and facility maintenance.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The role requires working in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment, with possible domestic and international travel, and long hours including weekends. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, and manual dexterity. The environment involves machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with health and safety policies is mandatory.
