TGR Haas F1 Team competes in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship with Grand Prix race winner Esteban Ocon and British rising star Ollie Bearman, led by Team Principal Ayao Komatsu. The 2025 season saw the team’s second highest points total in its 10-season history, achieving a combined total of 20 top 10 finishes. The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, TGR Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, and the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to-date in Formula 1. We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. General Summary: This position reports to the Deputy Chief Design and Structure, is in Maranello (Modena), Italy. Contributes to car performance by assisting in the development of lightweight structures. In this role, the Structural Group Assistant Intern collaborates with the structures group to work on material properties catalogue, definition of testing protocols, and calculation of various structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Working on improving materials and testing databases.
  • Analyse and develop structural aspects of components using Finite Element Analysis (both linear and non-linear) and hand-calculations.
  • Correlation of experimental data with FE results sometimes requiring scripting and programming.
  • Effectively communicate to develop working relationships with colleagues in Structures group.
  • Follow guidance and methods for development of components.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief Design and Structure or their designee.

Education and Work Experience:

  • GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Further education including Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Automotive Engineering Degree or any other relevant engineering discipline required.
  • Internship or equivalent experience in a structures group performing components analysis is a plus.
  • Experience in Formula Student or equivalent projects is advantageous.

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Have an excellent understanding of English Language.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of both current and future CFD workflows.
  • Collaborate with software teams to apply modern software development practices.
  • Develop processes that are observable, testable, and high performing.
  • Deliver solutions that are robust, reliable, and resilient.
  • Identify and mitigate risk factors and performance bottlenecks.
  • Maintain and support workflows, along with their associated processes and toolkits.
  • Optimize and perform performance testing on codes, processes, and pipelines.
  • Develop applications based on engineering concepts.
  • Create new code from scratch and modify existing code as needed.
  • Work closely with CFD and software teams.
  • Problem solve and create reports to communicate findings.
  • Develop workflow automation tools.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A sympathetic approach to work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

  • HyperWorks/Hypermesh/Optistruct.
  • Laminate tools or similar.
  • CAD System: Catia V6 (just basic function).
  • Excel/Matlab/Python.

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic, and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends. This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
