2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, and the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to-date in Formula 1.

We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal and hardworking team ambassadors. General Summary: This position reports to the Race Team Support Chief Mechanic or their designee in Banbury, UK. Responsible for the assembly, servicing and repair of all components fitted to the Haas Formula 1 Race Car. Cover and attend Races Events and Tests as required reporting to the Chief Mechanic when trackside.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Responsibility for the cleanliness and condition of the work area.
  • Following Engineering procedures and protocols as dictated by the Haas F1 Team pertaining to assembly, operation, and safety.
  • Collaborate and work cohesively with the Factory Operations Team Leader daily regarding workloads, fault reporting and diagnoses.
  • Assume all roles and responsibilities undertaken by the Race Team #2 Mechanic when trackside, guaranteeing that Engineering requirements and set up changes are met promptly, accurately and in a safe and professional manner.
  • Ensuring the servicing/builds of components are completed and aligned on the Lifing system.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and service of all Pit Stop Equipment as well as Off Car Equipment such as Rigs, Set Up Equipment and Tooling.
  • Take responsibility for the build/service and specifications of the Spare Chassis’ inline with the expectation of the Chief Mechanic.
  • Required to demonstrate a company focused attitude to organize and guide your team whilst keeping moral high under difficult circumstances or tight deadlines.
  • Expected to be able to take part in Pit Stops.
  • Assist and support chosen departments to facilitate Turnarounds, Engineering Projects, Car Builds and Event Support.
  • Report reliability issues as they occur and seek advice before undertaking any out of the ordinary tasks.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Assumes any responsibilities and duties delegated by the RTS Chief Mechanic or their designee.

Education and Work Experience: GCSE, High School Diploma or equivalent required. 2-3 years of previous experience in a similar mechanical role within Formula 1, World Sports Cars, or F2 is preferred – however consideration will be given to a candidate who can demonstrate professionalism and a sound record of service within the Motorsport Industry.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Have an excellent understanding of English language.
  • Strong technical background in racing car.
  • A comprehensive mechanical understanding gained in Formula 1 motor racing.
  • An ability to read and interpret technical drawings and information pertaining to assembly, periodic updates and modifications.
  • The ability to consistently work to the highest standards with an exceptional attitude towards attention to detail.
  • Basic fabrication and machining skills.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Dynamics AX and 3DX.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials and facility maintenance requirements.

Work Environment Physical Demands: An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends. This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
