General Summary:
This position reports to the Composites Team Leader or their designee; is a fixed term contract and is located in Banbury, UK. Responsible for the bonding, assembly, servicing and repair of all composite components fitted to the team’s race cars and heritage cars.
Key Responsibilities:
• Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and condition of your work area.
• Following engineering procedures and protocols, as dictated by the Haas F1 Team pertaining to assembly, operation, and safety.
• Collaborate and work cohesively with the Composite Team Leader daily regarding workloads, fault reporting, and diagnoses.
• Management of minimum stock levels of components, spares, and consumables, working closely with the trackside and factory groups.
• Assist and work with the Parts Coordinators managing the turnaround and flow of composite components between the track, factory and suppliers.
• Working cross-functionally with multiple departments within the team to ensure TSIs, updates, and test items are collated, assembled, and tested accordingly.
• Assist and support chosen departments to facilitate turnarounds, engineering projects, car builds, and event support.
• Report reliability issues as they occur and seek advice before undertaking any out-of-the-ordinary tasks.
• Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
• Assumes any responsibilities and duties delegated by the Composites Team Leader or their designee.
Education and Work Experience:
• GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a similar Composite role within Formula 1, World Sports Cars, or F2 is preferred.
• Demonstrable professionalism and a strong record of service within the Motorsport Industry are highly beneficial.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• An ability to read and interpret technical drawings and information pertaining to assembly, periodic updates and modifications.
• A comprehensive understanding of composite repair methods including bond preparation, resin selection, and laminating techniques gained in a trackside environment, with the ability to apply these skills often in a limited time frame and under pressure.
• Basic fabrication and machining skills.
• Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
• Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
• Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
• A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
• A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.
Equipment and Applications:
• Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and 3DX.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials and facility maintenance requirements.
Work Environment Physical Demands:
An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.
This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
