TGR Haas F1 Team competes in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship with Grand Prix race winner Esteban Ocon and British rising star Ollie Bearman, led by Team Principal Ayao Komatsu. The 2025 season saw the team’s second highest points total in its 10-season history, achieving a combined total of 20 top 10 finishes. The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, TGR Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, and the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to-date in Formula 1. We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal and hardworking team ambassadors. General Summary: This position reports to the RTS Chief Mechanic or his designee; is located in Banbury, UK. Responsible for the assembly and servicing of the Haas F1 car components and leadership of the Sub Assembly department.

General Responsibilities:

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and mentorship of personnel within the Sub Assembly team; directs and coaches team members to maximize the departments performance and oversees daily activities.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Liaise and distribute information to various departments in an accurate manner, whilst ensuring tight deadlines are adhered to.
  • Report reliability issues as they occur and seek advice before undertaking any out of the ordinary tasks.
  • Responsibility for the cleanliness and condition of your work area.
  • Following Engineering procedures and protocols as dictated by the Haas F1 Team pertaining to assembly, operation, and safety.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the RTS Chief Mechanic or their designee.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure sub assembled components are consistently built to the highest standards and correct build specifications.
  • Work with the parts coordination teams to ensure component quantities are aligned with trackside expectations and allocations.
  • Work closely with the design and engineering groups to resolve technical challenges and fault fixes.
  • Have a good understanding of all car parts, process, and procedures.
  • Follow Lifing and UIIL requirements to ensure full compliance is met in line with the regulations.
  • Assist and support chosen departments to facilitate Turnarounds, Engineering Projects, Car Builds and Event Support.

Education and Work Experience: 3 years minimum previous experience in a similar mechanical role within Formula 1, World Sports Cars, or F2 is preferred.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations, with an exceptional attitude towards attention to detail.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A comprehensive mechanical understanding gained in Formula 1 motor racing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and information pertaining to assembly, periodic updates and modifications.
  • Basic fabrication and machining skills.
  • Self-motivated with effective time management skills, adapt to change, capable of resolving conflicts constructively, and committed to continuous learning.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

Equipment and Applications: Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience using systems such as or equivalent to Microsoft D365, 3DX & Lifecheck. Mechanical aptitude. Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials and facility maintenance requirements.

Work Environment Physical Demands: An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require domestic or international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends. This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
