General Summary:
This position reports to the Aerodynamics Designer Team Leader or their designee; is located in Maranello, and/or Castelnuovo Rangone, Italy. Works closely with designers and aerodynamicists to continuously evolve CAD methodologies and improve design efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
- Primary focus will be around development of aerodynamic group customisations for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
- Create macro within the 3DEXPERIENCE environment to simplify and speed up the daily tasks of Aerodynamics and Designers.
- Identify the best CAD methodologies to improve the efficiency of the aerodynamic department.
- Maintain communication with the CAD Methodology Manager to support the development of 3DEXPERIENCE solutions to lead to more efficient and effective ways of working.
- CAD model part design.
- Clear communication of task status.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, applications, and customizations to ensure future support and clarity.
- Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
- Other duties as assigned by the Aerodynamics Designer Team Leader or their designee.
Education and Work Experience:
- GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Further education is required, such as a degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience is required, with at least 2 years in a professional motorsport or aerospace environment using CATIA V5, CATIA V6, or 3DEXPERIENCE.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Have a good understanding of English language.
- Good Understanding of 3DExperience Data Model and Architecture.
- Technical background in CAD, ideally CATIA V5, V6 or 3DX, a good understanding of the setup, configuration and standards of CATIA.
- VBA programming experience combined with the development of CAD automations using Visual Basic or CATScript.
- Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
- Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
- Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
- A sympathetic approach to work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
- A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.
Equipment and Applications:
- Solid Microsoft and PC knowledge with experience in Microsoft Office products is essential.
- Some experience in customizing and configuring PLM systems such as ENOVIA, Windchill, or Teamcenter.
Work Environment Physical Demands:
An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic & international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.
This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
