Full Time Vineyard Operator

Location of the Job: Essex, United Kingdom.

Additional information:

  • This is a permanent full-time position.
  • Standard working week is 40 hours per week.

The Job Role Details: We are seeking a Full-Time Vineyard Operator to join this specialist Vineyard Contracting business.

What You\’ll Be Doing:

Vineyard Work:

  • Carry out vineyard tasks using machinery and hand tools (including pruning, canopy management, and harvesting).
  • Complete winter pruning and other seasonal tasks as required.

Operational Support:

  • Follow instructions provided by the Vineyard Manager to ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Assist with day-to-day planning and setup of machinery for vineyard operations.
  • Support the management of spray programs, including maintaining accurate chemical and spray records.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Assist in servicing, maintaining, and repairing vineyard machinery in-house.
  • Oversee the delivery and collection of parts and supplies from workshops or suppliers.

Materials & Supplies:

  • Order materials and supplies when directed by the manager.
  • Deliver fuel and chemicals to operatives when needed.
  • Ensure all deliveries of parts and chemicals are properly managed and recorded.

Health & Safety:

  • Comply with Health and Safety standards at all times.
  • Ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to throughout daily operations.

Site Oversight:

  • Visit customer vineyards to oversee operations and ensure tasks are carried out to a high standard.
  • Address and resolve on-site issues promptly to maintain efficiency.

Record Management:

  • Ensure all spray records are accurately completed and submitted to the manager in a timely manner.

Flexibility:

  • Be available for weekend work as required.
  • Adapt to overtime and seasonal demands during peak periods.

Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery in a similar role.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Spraying certificates – PA 1 / PA 3 / PA 6.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to perform physical tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability to changing weather conditions and seasonal demands.
