Working for a private family‑owned estate near to Angus, in Scotland, which covers 2,000 acres of arable land with an excellent infrastructure and machinery maintained to the highest standards. The estate encompasses a wide range of agricultural activities, including cereal production, seed potato production and livestock.
The Job Role Details:
Due to the retirement of a long‑standing member of staff, this specialist arable and potato farm is now seeking to recruit a forward‑thinking, dedicated and hard‑working Farm Foreman to lead a small and committed team. This key role serves as the primary point of contact between the Farm Manager and farm staff, requiring a forward‑thinking approach and strong initiative. As the successful Farm Foreman, you will take charge of daily operations by instructing staff on work plans and orders, ensuring they are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, supervise and delegate tasks to a small team of farm workers and farm machinery operators.
- Operate farm machinery only during busy, harvest periods.
- Farm machinery maintenance during winter months and quieter periods.
- Grow potatoes and potato grading during winter months and quieter periods.
Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working as a Farm Foreman, Farm Supervisor or Lead Farm Machinery Operator in a similar role.
- The confidence and ability to lead, motivate and work with a small team.
- Experience in seed potato production.
- Excellent workshop skills, to look after scheduled farm machinery maintenance.
- A strong ability to prioritise tasks and plan ahead.
- An appetite to be at the forefront of GPS and machinery technology.
