An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Team Leader to join a well-established manufacturing business in Stockport. This is a people-first leadership role where you will be responsible for creating a positive, high-performing and engaged team environment. Working closely with the Production Manager, you'll lead, coach and develop your team while ensuring safety, quality, delivery and productivity targets are achieved.
We're looking for someone who enjoys leading from the front, developing people and creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and motivate a manufacturing team to achieve production targets
- Manage attendance, absence and return-to-work processes
- Conduct performance management activities, coaching and development discussions
- Handle employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary processes and conflict resolution
- Ensure team members are trained, competent and supported in their roles
- Monitor productivity, quality and operational performance
- Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Work closely with production, quality, engineering and support functions to resolve issues
- Maintain a visible shop floor presence and lead by example
- Promote a safe, positive and inclusive working environment
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or similar people management position
- Strong employee relations experience including absence management, performance management and disciplinary processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence managing difficult conversations and resolving workplace issues
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Manufacturing, assembly or production environment experience
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement knowledge
- SAP or ERP system experience
- Understanding of employment policies and workplace procedures
- Stable and growing manufacturing environment
