Project Planner – Nuclear Defence Location: Central Belt, Scotland Employment Type: Contract Sector: Nuclear / Defence Security Clearance: Current SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Planner to support a major programme within the UK nuclear defence sector in the Central Belt of Scotland. This is a contract opportunity working within a highly regulated, safety-critical engineering environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, maintaining and controlling integrated project schedules, providing accurate programme information and supporting the wider project team in the successful delivery of complex engineering works. Due to the sensitive nature of the programme, candidates will either need to hold current Security Check (SC) clearance or be able to meet the requirements to obtain the necessary security clearance. Key Responsibilities As Project Planner, you will be responsible for: Developing, maintaining and updating detailed project schedules throughout the project lifecycle. Producing and managing programmes using Primavera P6 and/or other recognised project planning software. Working closely with Project Managers, engineering teams, commercial teams and other stakeholders to develop realistic and achievable project plans. Establishing project baselines and monitoring progress against agreed milestones. Identifying schedule risks, delays, constraints and potential areas of programme slippage. Undertaking critical path analysis and assessing the impact of changes to project schedules. Supporting schedule forecasting, scenario planning and recovery planning where required. Producing regular progress reports, dashboards and programme updates for internal and external stakeholders. Supporting Earned Value Management and wider project controls activities where applicable. Ensuring dependencies and interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities are accurately reflected within the programme. Supporting change control and assessing the programme impact of variations and project changes. Participating in project reviews, planning meetings and progress meetings. Working within established project controls, quality and governance procedures associated with highly regulated nuclear and defence environments. About You We are interested in speaking with Project Planners who can demonstrate: Previous experience in a Project Planner, Senior Planner, Planning Engineer or Project Controls position. Strong experience using Primavera P6. Experience developing and managing complex engineering or construction schedules. Good understanding of critical path analysis, schedule risk, progress measurement and project controls. Experience working across multidisciplinary engineering projects. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with Project Managers, engineers, contractors and senior stakeholders. Ability to operate effectively within a highly regulated and process-driven environment. Experience within nuclear, defence, naval, marine, energy, infrastructure or other safety-critical engineering sectors would be particularly advantageous. Security Clearance Due to the nature of the programme, applicants must either currently hold SC clearance or be eligible to undergo the required UK security vetting process.
