Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies
- Operating plant equipment safely and efficiently
- Monitoring and maintaining compliance with environmental permits
- Carrying out risk assessments and operational procedures
- Supporting operational improvements and performance enhancements
- Administering safe systems of work and coordinating contractor activities
- Participating in health and safety inspections and workplace investigations
- Managing consumable materials and operational strategies
- Performing first aid and acting as a Fire Marshal in emergency situations
- Supportive role for operational improvements to increase performance, while liaising with the Shift Operations, Maintenance and Cleaning.
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven supervisory experience in Energy from Waste, power generation, or large industrial process plant.
- Operate the plant in a safe environmentally compliant and efficient manner on shift rotation basis.
- Technical background in either plant operations or maintenance.
- Experience with waste handling, boiler furnace, steam systems, fans, pumps, steam turbine generator, ash handling, water treatment processes and conveyors.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with rotating machinery, boilers, or similar systems.
- DCS knowledge is essential.
Desirable Skills
- High-level planning, organisation, and decision-making skills.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (completed or working towards).
- IOSH Managing Safely (completed).
- HNC or equivalent in a technical or scientific discipline.
