Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Operating plant equipment safely and efficiently
  • Monitoring and maintaining compliance with environmental permits
  • Carrying out risk assessments and operational procedures
  • Supporting operational improvements and performance enhancements
  • Administering safe systems of work and coordinating contractor activities
  • Participating in health and safety inspections and workplace investigations
  • Managing consumable materials and operational strategies
  • Performing first aid and acting as a Fire Marshal in emergency situations
  • Supportive role for operational improvements to increase performance, while liaising with the Shift Operations, Maintenance and Cleaning.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven supervisory experience in Energy from Waste, power generation, or large industrial process plant.
  • Operate the plant in a safe environmentally compliant and efficient manner on shift rotation basis.
  • Technical background in either plant operations or maintenance.
  • Experience with waste handling, boiler furnace, steam systems, fans, pumps, steam turbine generator, ash handling, water treatment processes and conveyors.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with rotating machinery, boilers, or similar systems.
  • DCS knowledge is essential.

Desirable Skills

  • High-level planning, organisation, and decision-making skills.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (completed or working towards).
  • IOSH Managing Safely (completed).
  • HNC or equivalent in a technical or scientific discipline.
