We are seeking an experienced Project Planner (Outside IR35) to join a major UK infrastructure and construction project based in the Durham area on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to support the delivery of a nationally significant engineering project, working within a multidisciplinary project team responsible for planning, monitoring, and reporting on key construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project programmes using Primavera P6.
- Produce integrated construction schedules and progress reporting information.
- Monitor project performance against programme baselines.
- Identify programme risks, delays, and opportunities, providing mitigation strategies where required.
- Conduct critical path analysis and support project recovery planning activities.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for project and client stakeholders.
- Support change control processes and assess the programme impact of variations.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial teams to ensure alignment across project activities.
- Participate in planning and progress review meetings.
- Assist with forecasting and project controls activities.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a Project Planner within construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, or civil engineering sectors.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Strong understanding of project planning principles and Critical Path Methodology (CPM).
- Experience developing and maintaining complex project schedules.
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working on major infrastructure, power, utilities, transmission, or renewable energy projects.
- Familiarity with NEC forms of contract.
- Knowledge of earned value management and project controls.
- Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- Relevant engineering, construction, or project management qualification.
