H9 Talent Solutions are partnering with a well-established global manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager for their flagship manufacturing site in Darwen. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SHE professional to join a business with significant investment, where you'll play a key role in developing safety culture, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the site maintains the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
The Role
Reporting into the senior leadership team, you'll take ownership of the site's SHE strategy, ensuring legal compliance while embedding best practice across manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the site's Health, Safety & Environmental strategy
- Developing and improving SHE management systems and procedures
- Driving behavioural safety initiatives and continuous improvement programmes
- Leading accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing preventative actions
- Managing environmental compliance including permits, waste and sustainability initiatives
- Conducting audits, inspections and KPI reporting
- Supporting capital projects with SHE risk assessments and compliance
- Working closely with operational teams to build a proactive safety culture
- Acting as the site's SHE expert and key contact for regulatory bodies
About You
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification)
- Minimum 5 years' SHE management experience within manufacturing or process industries
- Strong understanding of UK Health, Safety & Environmental legislation
- Experience implementing and improving SHE management systems
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Experience leading investigations, audits and compliance programmes
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for continuous improvement
