H9 Talent Solutions are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering team, supporting the design and delivery of mechanical systems and solutions across industrial and energy-sector projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing mechanical designs from concept through to detailed engineering, ensuring technical compliance, design quality and coordination with multidisciplinary project teams. Role & Responsibilities
- Produce mechanical engineering designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation in accordance with project requirements and applicable industry standards.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, layouts, equipment arrangements and design packages.
- Undertake mechanical design calculations, equipment selection and technical assessments.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, datasheets, schedules and equipment documentation.
- Work collaboratively with electrical, process, piping, civil and structural engineering teams to ensure coordinated design delivery.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and manufacturers to resolve technical queries and establish design requirements.
- Review supplier drawings, technical submissions and equipment proposals to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Support design reviews, technical meetings, risk assessments and value engineering exercises.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant legislation, engineering standards, quality procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Identify potential design issues, clashes and engineering risks, implementing appropriate solutions.
- Support project teams throughout procurement, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure documentation is issued in line with project schedules.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or HNC/HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a mechanical design engineering role within an industrial, engineering, manufacturing, energy or process plant environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, design calculations and technical specifications.
- Experience producing and reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in relevant CAD and engineering design software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment datasheets and technical specifications.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver engineering packages to agreed deadlines.
