H9 Talent Solutions is partnering with a global engineering and sustainable-energy organisation to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel for its international Asset Management business.
The successful candidate will provide front-end legal support across a portfolio of operational energy and infrastructure assets. The position combines complex commercial contracting with project finance, M&A, corporate governance, tendering and dispute management.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer who wants significant autonomy, international exposure and the opportunity to work closely with experienced legal, commercial and operational stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
- Acting as a trusted legal adviser to the leadership of an international Asset Management business
- Identifying and managing legal and commercial risks across a portfolio of operational energy assets
- Structuring, drafting and negotiating complex domestic and international agreements
- Advising on transactions involving clients, sponsors, lenders, project partners and service providers
- Supporting the legal aspects of project finance and M&A transactions
- Advising on public and private tenders, construction matters and project-related claims
- Providing practical guidance on corporate governance, compliance and internal processes
- Supporting company incorporations, company-secretarial requirements and corporate filings
- Coordinating external legal advisers and supporting dispute-resolution strategies across different jurisdictions
- Developing standard contracts, legal precedents and internal guidance
- Delivering legal and contractual training to commercial and operational teams
What we are looking for:
- A qualified common-law lawyer, ideally admitted in England and Wales
- Approximately three years’ PQE or more, although overall capability and relevant experience will be considered ahead of a rigid PQE threshold
- Experience gained within an international law firm, infrastructure investor, project company or the in-house legal team of a global organisation
- Demonstrable exposure to project finance and the legal aspects of M&A transactions
- Experience with complex commercial contracts, tenders and construction or project claims
- The ability to work independently and provide commercial, solution-focused legal advice
- Strong stakeholder-management and negotiation skills within an international environment
- Fluent English and the flexibility to travel when required
- German or French language skills would be beneficial
- Exposure to energy trading would be advantageous but is not essential
Package and benefits:
- Salary in the region of £120,000–£135,000, with potential flexibility for an exceptional candidate
- 10% annual target bonus
- Hybrid working from either the London or Farnborough office
- Employer pension contribution of up to 10%
- Private medical and dental insurance
- Life assurance at four times salary
- Disability insurance
- 24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
- Substantial international exposure within a growing sustainable-energy and infrastructure portfolio
